Hayden Electric Fan Controls 3647 Wiring Diagram

Electric Fan Controller Wiring Instructions

Preparing for Installation

Before beginning the wiring process, ensure you have the necessary tools, including a screwdriver, wire strippers, and a voltmeter. Gather the wiring instructions for your specific Hayden fan module. Note that the instructions provided here may differ from those for other Hayden models.

Identifying the Wires

Hayden 3652 and 3647 Modules

Locate the following wires on your Hayden 3652 or 3647 fan module:

  • Red: Battery positive supply (connected to the positive terminal of the battery)
  • Black: Motor positive supply (connected to the positive terminal of the fan motor)
  • Yellow: Ground (connected to a suitable ground point on the vehicle's chassis)
  • White: Temperature sensor (connected to the included temperature sensor)
  • Green: Fan output (connected to the negative terminal of the fan motor)

Note: On Hayden fan modules in pusher orientation, the black wire is the motor positive supply.

General Wiring Instructions

Follow these general wiring instructions, regardless of your specific Hayden model:

  1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
  2. Strip the insulation from the ends of each wire.
  3. Connect the red wire to the positive terminal of the battery.
  4. Connect the black wire to the positive terminal of the fan motor.
  5. Connect the yellow wire to a suitable ground point on the vehicle's chassis.
  6. Connect the white wire to the included temperature sensor.
  7. Connect the green wire to the negative terminal of the fan motor.
  8. Reconnected the negative terminal of the battery.
  9. Test the fan controller by turning the ignition key to the "On" position. The fan should not turn on immediately.
  10. Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature. The fan should turn on when the temperature reaches the desired setting.

Manual Turn-On Instructions (Hayden 3652 Only)

The Hayden 3652 kit includes a manual turn-on feature. To use this feature, follow these additional instructions:

  1. Locate the control knob on the fan controller.
  2. Use a screwdriver to turn the control knob clockwise to the desired setting.
  3. The fan will turn on immediately.

These wiring instructions should help you successfully install and operate your electric fan controller. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for specific details regarding your Hayden fan module model.
